Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer Material Process to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, CA.

The selected candidate will be part of the Macroelectronics Materials and Processes Engineering Section supporting various space systems.

Essential Functions:

Candidates must have experience in analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop non-metallic material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications. May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

· B achelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)

· 5 years of experience in materials and processes, manufacturing, assembly drawings, failure analysis and test procedures OR Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and 3 years of experience in materials and processes, manufacturing, assembly drawings and test procedures

· Ability to obtain and maintain a SCI security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

· Masters of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or Physics

· Active SCI security clearance

· Demonstrated knowledge with management, and engineering personnel from other areas
