Job Description
Associate Scientist (Contractor), Lentiviral Vector Process Development
Join bluebird bio’s enthusiastic and collaborative team by contributing to the overall success of our novel gene therapy approach. The focus of this position is to provide support to enable characterization and process development of Lentiviral Vector manufacturing process. We are looking for a motivated associate scientist who is a quick learner and can operate in a fast-paced environment.
About the role:
Support process characterization activities in preparation for LVV commercial manufacturing
Contribute to downstream process development
Conduct DoE experiments using scale down models
Generate, manage, evaluate, and maintain critical data in a highly organized manner
Assist in the generation of technical protocols and reports
Responsible for preparing buffers and reagents as needed to support laboratory activities
Manage laboratory equipment for service, preventative maintenance, and calibrations
Manage physical inventory for raw materials and process retains
This is a hands-on position and requires the candidate to have a flexible schedule based on experimental and company needs (including possible weekend work)
About you:
A BS degree in chemical engineering, biotechnology or biology related discipline with 0-2 years of experience
Prior experience with chromatography and membrane filtration is highly desired
Be a self-starter, quick learner with the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment
Must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills and ability to handle confidential information and material appropriately
