Practice is currently seeking an Environmental Chemist for an Analyst
position to support consulting staff in our Maynard, MA office. The candidate will provide analytical support for consulting efforts targeted at
assessing environmental contaminant fate and transport, forensic analysis, and quality of laboratory analyses.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Reviewing environmental laboratory data for completeness and correctness and being compliant against published analytical methods
Validating US EPA data guidelines and Quality Assurance Project Plans based on professional experience for non-routine analyses
Drafting Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAPs) and QAPPs
Executing and managing field sampling events
Qualifications for this position include:
B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemistry or Environmental Engineering
3 years of analytical chemistry experience in a commercial laboratory with hands-on experience with gas and liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, inductively coupled plasma – mass spectrometry, and general chemistry techniques. Additional experience with high resolution gas chromatography/high resolution mass spectrometry analyses preferred
3 years of environmental consulting experience focused on data quality, data validation, and data management preferred
Field sampling experience preferred
Familiarity with US EPA methods for the sampling, preparation and analysis of environmental samples
Experience drafting Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAPs) and Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs)
Excellent technical writing and communication skills
Proficient in Excel and Access required. Able to use additional data management platforms and coding programs, preferred
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
