Profile

Record and summarize test data and observations from product and raw material testing.
Assist in the construction of small test devices for new applications.
Reviews and modifies test methods to ensure accurate and useful data.
Assists with machine trials, monitoring checkpoints and collecting samples and data.
Assists with pilot paper machine trials for product development.
Performs applications on media test stands.
Formats computer spreadsheet programs and provides other computerized documentation of lab experiments and results.
Formulates standardized reports, as required.
Maintains laboratory notebook.
Carries out functions that must comply with ITAR standards, therefore must be U.S. citizen or holder of Green card.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associates degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
0‐5 years of experience with mechanical aptitude as applied to a laboratory and machinery environment.
Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in math and science.
Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Conscientious, detail-oriented and the ability to process knowledge accurately.
Strong observation and planning skills with leadership potential to advance to the next level.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT: Work requires repetitive motion of arms/hands, standing for prolonged period, performing frequent bending and twisting motions, lifting of light weight objects, which may potentially result in musculoskeletal stresses.
Steady hands and dexterity to perform tasks repeatedly and accurately.
Work performed in laboratory environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
Work performed in production area with potential exposure to large equipment/machinery and loud noises.

SUMMARY:
The Technician provides assistance to Technology staff in the testing, analysis, and reporting of new material development in conjunction with product development efforts undertaken in the laboratory and pilot plant facilities and paper machines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare fibrous/chemical mixtures in the laboratory and produce experimental media prototypes.
Perform physical, chemical testing on raw materials, product prototypes and commercial materials according to specified test procedures.
Record and summarize test data and observations from product and raw material testing.
