Role Summary:The Senior Section Manager is accountable for product, project, functional, business, and company priorities for the Navigation & Guidance Next Gen Produces and Programs engineering organization. This includes managing complex issues, overseeing design, being involved in long-term planning, development and delivery of the overall product strategy. This role requires product & system level technical knowledge, as well as demonstrated customer, stakeholder & team relationship building experience.

Essential Responsibilities:• Overall leadership of the N&G Next Gen Products and Programs engineering organization

• Define and drive a balance between project specific development and product development with a bias towards product development to obtain true reuse savings.

• Connect with the Avionics business product managers to co-develop a product strategy aligned with market opportunities and the other internal product teams.

• Demonstrate superior technical expertise while translating highly technical engineering concepts into workable solutions

• Effectively manage multiple broad-scope programs simultaneously

• Drive successful NPI while meeting customer milestone deliveries to agreed cost and schedule commitments

• Deliver quantifiable results through personal efforts and team leadership

• Establish a culture of engineering excellence & accountability

• Model the essence of a true engineering leader by distinguishing themselves in their values as to how they lead, motivate and inspire others

• Embrace new business initiatives & ideas and encourage team members to incorporate these tools into daily processes

• Provide operation direction consistent with business direction

• Recruit, develop, and continually assess leadership and support personnel within the N&G Next Gen Products and Programs engineering organization

• Develop influential relationships with assigned customers at all levels, and provide specific engineering strategies, credibility, plans and actions that differentiate us from our competitors

• Foster and inspire a collaborative work style and display team-oriented behavior with a proactive example of communication internally and externally

• Consider global business-wide impact of every decision, and proactively seek cross-functional perspective

• Maintain high visibility as a key Engineering Leader in the Aviation community while being respected for maturity, professionalism, expertise, sound judgment, passion for excellence, long-term commitment and uncompromising integrity

• Develop and execute global resourcing strategies that will make your team competitive in the marketplace

Qualifications/Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a variety of engineering leadership positions


• This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

Desired Characteristics:• Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration from an accredited university or college

• Persistence and ability to maintain an uncompromising balance with thoroughness and a quick-to-action style of execution & accountability

• Successfully demonstrate a high level of professionalism in demeanor and presentation to include excellence in questioning, listening, and influencing

• Demonstrated capability to constructively partner and drive alignment across multiple matrix organizations and customers

• Demonstrated success in engineering and business program management

• Exceptional presentation skills and perceived as knowledgeable, consultative and objective

• Ability to project him / herself in a way that motivates others

• Inspirational communicator with the ability to engage and inspire one-on-one as well as in broad audiences

• Highly visible, hands on approach while setting the example for high standards and accountability for the organization

• Strong familiarity and experience with Aviation organizations
