The primary job function of the intern is to provide technical laboratory and pilot operational support as part of the Elastomer Process Materials Division as part Engineered Materials Group at Parker, based in North America. The intern should have the willingness to accept new & challenging assignments, accept new assignments and complete the work correctly with limited supervision. Perform various job assignments with various engineers/scientists. Demonstrate effort to learn new skills, processes and assignments. Work assignments can change depending on the priority of the different projects. The individual must have a high degree of initiative to meet all requirements of the position. Candidates will be paired with a chemical engineer who will provide the project scope and technical guidance. Candidates will be required to present the assigned project to staff. Candidates will gain experience with and knowledge of Parker products, internal processes and systems, and technical customer requirements sufficient to perform future responsibilities with general direction. Candidates will perform routine and non-routine laboratory assignments of moderate-to-high complexity and variety under minimal supervision. This position requires daily handling of chemicals, equipment, and associated safety awareness. The candidate is expected to be conscious of chemical hygiene, equipment maintenance, and general laboratory upkeep. The candidate is also expected to be capable of reading and understanding safety data sheets (SDS) and associated hazards and required personal protective equipment when handling and working with any chemicals.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in, or completed degree in related field, such as: Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science, Chemistry or Physics
Actively pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related Engineering Field
Strong work ethic and a can do attitude.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Strong computer proficiency and the ability to quickly learn new applications.
Strong innovation and creative thinking, self-motivated.
Proven ability to handle confidential information.
Detail oriented individual with demonstrated organizational skills.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team member.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
