Profile

Monogram is seeking a Sr. Clinical Laboratory Scientist or CLS to join its clinical laboratory in the Cell Assay group. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for virology testing and administrative assignments performed in this section; these include but are not limited to transfection, refeeding, cellular infection, protocols, manipulation of 96 well plates, operation of various dispensers and automated sample handling systems. Additional responsibilities also include review of worksheets, data entry and evaluation of technician level staff for competency.

The schedule for this position will be Tuesday -- Saturday, 6:00 a.m. -- 2:30 p.m.

Responsibilities:

Follows Standard Operating Procedures for specimen processing, performing test procedures, data analysis and reporting test results

Performs appropriate QA/QC procedures

Operates and maintains equipment and instruments according to manufacturer and Monogram Clinical Reference Lab established procedures including:

Analysis of clinical specimens

Calibration

Preventive maintenance

Troubleshooting

Assists in the oversight of unlicensed laboratory staff and provides technical support for clinical laboratory scientists in training

May be appointed to oversee specialized processes or appointed to a unique coordinating role, such as safety or QC

Actively participates in continuing education and in service training programs for licensure

Participates in reviewing and maintaining of knowledge Standard Operating Procedures

Reagent and viral stock preparation and qualification

May assist in development of new assays and technology transfer from research and development

Reviews and releases results in the Laboratory Information System

Requirements

BS/BA in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory or similar scientific field

Requires current State of California Clinical Laboratory license (CLS Generalist)

At Senior CLS level, minimum of 5 years of clinical laboratory experience required

At CLS level, no previous experience required

Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary

Single and/or multi-channel pipetting experience desired

Good understanding of statistical methods and application to the analysis of complex assays

Ability to work in a collaborative, flexible environment

Strong computer skills and attention to detail

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

Color vision-ability to distinguish and identify different colors
