**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is one of the world's leading producers of gelatin and is a recognized partner in the pharmaceutical and food industries. We have an immediate need for an experienced Quality Manager for our Quality Department at our Peabody location in North Shore, Massachusetts.
Job Duties:
Plans, coordinates, and directs quality assurance program designed to ensure quality production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties or through subordinate supervisors and staff.
Supervise Laboratory technicians who are responsible for daily chemical, physical and microbiological testing of products and the reporting of results.
Managing Blend Technologist and Quality Analyst who are responsible for daily quality operations including but not limited to: CoA generation, blending, labeling, scheduling, production planning, outside laboratory testing, and equipment maintenance, RM receiving, supply ordering, maintaining adequate 5S standards.
Serve as ISO Management Representative by coordinating the maintenance of the ISO 9001 certification with all departments. Leading the internal audit team by identifying training requirements of auditors, training auditors, scheduling audits and evaluating audit effectiveness. Reviewing, preparing and approving documentation policies, procedures, instructions and forms as necessary for ISO certification, and introducing and training new employees to ISO concepts.
Manage GFSI certification as the International Featured Standard IFS Representative.
Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
Manage HACCP program and Food Safety Program as required by FDA.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or comparable required
More than 10 years of Food Manufacturing Experience
More than 3 years experience in a Quality Manager role
Have PCQI & HACCP certification credentials
Quality Management System & ISO/GFSI experience required
Proven ability to manage a Quality Department
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Preferred Education, Experience & Qualifications
Leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment
Experience working with any of the U.S. government agencies such as FDA, USDA/APHIS with food and/or pet food/animal feed, Qualified PCQI. Experience with Halal certifications and audits ensuring protocols are enforced and followed.
Knowledge of statistical software highly recommended.
Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of associates and customers.
Ability to manage and successfully lead third party and regulatory audits.
Proficient in food microbiology. Experience with hygienic design and new equipment installation. Good understanding of sanitation management programs.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel.
Occasionally must push, pull, move or lift up to 10lbs.
Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
