We are seeking a Medicinal Chemist to drive novel drug discovery projects from early discovery stage to clinical candidates. This scientist should have a track record of medicinal chemistry accomplishments resulting in high impact on drug discovery programs and/or generation of high-quality development candidates.

Our technology is based the promising field of Targeted Protein Degradation, in which the body’s innate protein recycling machinery is accessed to degrade rather than inhibit dysregulated, disease-causing proteins. Kymera has multiple internal programs in Oncology and Immunology/Inflammation, with plans to enter the clinic in early 2021. We also have an exciting and validating collaboration with Vertex Pharmaceuticals focused on several other new disease areas. Kymera just recently completed a significantly over-subscribed Series C financing totaling over $100 million, creating a multi-year cash runway.
We are based in Technology Square in Cambridge until our move to newly built offices at the Arsenal Yards development in Watertown in July 2020. Our offices will have free parking and a free transportation shuttle from Harvard Square running every 15 minutes during commute hours.
Drive state-of-the-art multi-parameter medicinal chemistry optimization with creativity, innovation, in-depth analysis of data, and existing literature information
Contribute in a very impactful manner to compound design and synthetic route identification for all portfolio projects
Lead medicinal chemistry efforts on validating targets at early stage to clear decision point
Holistic approach to hit/lead finding including use of structure-based drug design and fragment-based drug discovery
Effective leadership and management of CRO chemistry teams through excellent synthetic and medicinal chemistry skills with clear and open communication
Lead medicinal chemistry efforts and contribute beyond med chem as part of a multi-disciplinary project team
Represent the company effectively in scientific matters to external organizations.
PhD in organic/medicinal chemistry with 8 years of experience as a medicinal chemist/project leader in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry with a track-record of leading/contributing to research projects towards IND-track nomination
Extensive knowledge of key molecular recognition, DMPK, biochemical, pharmacological and safety principles and can apply this knowledge to the design of new molecular
Excellent synthetic organic chemistry skills and creativity are
Proven ability as chemistry leader and contributing beyond med chem as part of a multi-disciplinary project team
Proven ability as chemistry leader on validating or prioritizing targets with conclusive data package
Proven ability in collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams
Willingness to be both a strategic leader and a hands-on problem solver
Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment with changing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all stakeholders
