We are seeking a talented Sr. Chemist to join our research & development team reporting to the Vice President of R&D.
This is a hands-on position, where the ideal candidate will enjoy creating and testing new plating processes (aqueous and ionic liquids) and materials to meet the toughest engineering applications. The Sr. Chemist will be a leader in technology for plating chemistry development, electrolytes and additives. The Sr. Chemist will also work with our analysis team to develop test methods for detecting and controlling the chemistry of the systems. She/he will partner with the Engineering team to help take ideas from R&D into commercialization.
Job responsibilities for the position will include:
Electroplating chemistry and process development
Hands on plating work, testing chemistries and evaluating results
Chemical analysis process development for plating baths
Literature searching and invention for new alloy systems, chemistry, additives and methods
Investigation of aqueous and ionic liquid electrolyte systems
Provide technical expertise at customer meetings and technical conferences
Lead diverse project teams for new product development
Weekly team review of results and work plans.
The successful candidate will have a combination of the following qualities, education and experience:
PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering or closely related field.
Experience with electroplating and working in a research laboratory are preferred.
Hands-on experience with an industrial laboratory environment. Experience in a glove-box environment is a plus.
Experience with chemical analysis techniques (AA, FTIR, XRF, EDS, titration, UV/VIS)
Ability to work independently as well as in groups
Organized, self-motivated, and action oriented, with the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and opportunities
Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to convey technical information effectively and concisely to engineering, sales, technicians, etc.
