**Eurofins is searching for a Analytical Chemist to work 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Monday through Friday in
Battle Creek, MI.**
Essential Job Duties:
Develop and validate methodologies for various compounds in a variety of food, ingredient or related matrices. The candidate will work within an analytical chemistry team function to deliver client projects in the laboratory, pilot plant and manufacturing environments. The candidate will have experience in characterization of ingredients and manufactured products using a variety of chromatographic instrumental techniques. Specifically, we are looking for experience in liquid, gas and ion chromatography (HPLC/UPLC, GC and IC). Knowledge of quantitative mass spectroscopy will also be required.
The following key knowledge areas are required:
Characterization of naturally occurring ingredients
Work on multiple developmental projects and need to balance short and long term priorities.
Strong ability to use analytical tools for troubleshooting food processes and identifying unknown molecules.
An ability to recognize and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation will be important.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge of analytical techniques for characterizing proteins, carbohydrates, natural color and flavor ingredients
Hands-on experience with Agilent, Waters or Thermo Dionex hardware & software is a plus
Highly experienced with computer software for mass spectral data analysis
Organizes and conducts routine analyses independently and in compliance with applicable methods, protocols, SOPs and regulatory agency guidelines
Contributes to a cohesive team environment and maintains a positive attitude. Plans individual workload in coordination with team members.
Implements process improvement initiatives
Documents work in clear, concise manner according to laboratory standards
Excellent communication skills in writing and presenting data
A leader in maintaining a clean and safe laboratory work environment and utilizes proper PPE
Performs other related duties as assigned
Will be exposed to food allergens (ex. Milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, etc.)
Work requires >75% of time in the lab
Some travel may be required (
People Skills:
Effective collaboration with scientists, engineers and business leaders
Ability to plan, implement and document scientific experiments with limited supervision
Education & Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry, food science or relevant field with 2-5 years' experience
Experienced with computers and multiple software programs used to manage experiments, data, report design and instrumental data collection
