Research Fellow – RNA Delivery
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking an exceptional, passionate and highly motivated Research Fellow to join the company’s pharmaceutical RNA platform delivery technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for framing the innovation strategy in the space of RNA delivery through internal leadership and external collaborations. He or she will lead the R&D effort within the company towards the discovery and development of new delivery technologies for therapeutic RNA applications. A strong technical background in cell biology, chemistry, pharmacology and formulation development is required. Strong organizational and communication skills, creative problem-solving, and flexibility are essential.
Lead the design, development and implementation of novel delivery systems to be applied in the space of nucleic acid (specifically RNA) delivery for human and animal applications
Lead the design and implementation of biological screening systems to evaluate delivery system technologies developed internally or externally through collaborations with 3rd party companies
Provide technical expertise and drive R&D strategy to strengthen the company’s IP portfolio in the space of nucleic acid delivery
Direct the synthesis and evaluation of new co-formulants to be used, alone or in conjunction with other components, in the delivery of nucleic acids. Evaluate the physiochemical properties of those co-formulants as well as the biological efficiency through in vitro and in vivo assays
Explore, identify and lead collaboration activities with 3rd party technology providers to accelerate the evolution of more efficient delivery systems for RNA applications in human and animal health applications
Mentor and develop younger scientists across the organization fostering an environment of innovation, collaboration and passion for science, preparing them for greater responsibilities. Assume responsibility for direct reports, if applicable, including recruiting, managing, mentoring and developing scientific skills
Contributes to defining R&D team goals and collaborate with scientists within and outside functional area in achieving them
Maintain diligent and organized records
Clearly communicate results and recommendations to colleagues and senior management
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline with at least 15 years of professional experience in nucleic acid delivery is required.
Demonstrated experience developing innovative nucleic acid delivery solutions for pharmaceutical applications is required.
Experience with viral and non-viral delivery systems is required.
Experience designing preclinical studies using animal models is required.
Experience designing biological screening systems to select technologies for pipeline advancement is required.
Demonstrated evidence of technical leadership resulting in significant scientific advances is required.
Experience leading technical teams, project teams and direct reports is required.
A strong track record of peer-reviewed publications, patents, and conference presentations is required.
Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills are required, with a proven ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, precise and actionable manner.
Ability to productively interact with colleagues across disciplines and levels in a fast-paced R&D environment is required.
Strong initiative, foresight and focus on detail is required.
