This person will be responsible fornsupporting in-house counsel in the capturing of innovation, development of thenintellectual property estate and counseling of the internal client with regardsnto due diligence efforts, patentability, freedom-to-operate and othernintellectual property-related matters.nThe successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range ofnintellectual property issues in a rapidly-growing, disruptive biotechnologyncompany. The successful candidate will develop deep expertise in the mRNAntherapeutics field to assist in all aspects of patent portfolio development andnmanagement. The qualified applicant will thrive in a fast-paced, proactivenculture and competently handle the intricacies of a complex ecosystem ofnplatform, therapeutic area and corporate partner intellectual property needs.nThey will be a both a self-sufficient performer as well as a team player inntheir role in supporting the advancement of critical intellectual propertyngoals of the company.nnHere's_What_You ll_Don* Facilitating patent preparation and prosecution work with outside counselnnto establish and expand a strong patent portfolion* Interacting with Moderna Platform and Therapeutic Area scientists tonncapture innovation and serve as an expert conduit of information tonnoutside counsel to produce high-quality patent applicationsn* Framing of legal arguments to support U.S. and foreign prosecutionnneffortsn* Interaction with and guidance of Moderna Platform Technology, e.g., novelnnlipids, formulations, nucleic acid chemistry, process development,nnmanufacturing, and the liken* Directing patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analysesn* Leading due diligence analyses of potential research collaborators andnnthird-party competitors, including competitive intelligence gathering onnnkey contenders in the mRNA therapeutic spacen* Providing IP transactional support for a wide variety of businessnntransactionsn* Supporting corporate strategic IP initiativesnnHere s_What_You ll_Bring_To_The_Tablen* Juris Doctorate and admitted to practice in at least one state,nnMassachusetts preferred.n* At least 5 years in-house and/or law firm experiencen* Associate degree in chemistry with an advanced degree in chemicalnnsciences or a Ph.D. preferred.
