Process Safety Engineer to perform duties using an understanding of key assumptions and approved methodologies.
Designs and plans layout of projects engaged in constructing, controlling, and improving equipment to carry out processes on commercial scale.
Develops process flow diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Uses computer modeling software to design processes.
Assists in preparing scopes of work and manhour estimates for new project work.
Primarily responsible for developing process flow diagrams, heat and material balances and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P& IDs).
Designs equipment to control movement, storage, and processing of petroleum liquids and gasses.
Designs process safety systems including PSV sizing and ESD control philosophy. Performs hydraulic calculations.
Determines most effective arrangement of unit operations exercising judgment to compromise between process requirements, economic evaluation, operator effectiveness, and physical and health hazards.
Directs Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) of process systems. Addresses resultant findings.
Performs tests and takes measurements throughout stages of production to determine degree of control over variables such as temperature, density, specific gravity, and pressure.
Writes operating procedures for new process systems. Provides operator training on new or modified systems.

Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required.
Minimum four (4) years experience in Process Safety Engineer role required.

Aspen Flarenet Modelling Standardise Model Constructs and Labeling.
Aspen Flare System Analyzer for outlet line pressure losses.
Compressor Settle Out Calculation Spreadsheet.
Acoustic Induced Vibration calculations.
Inlet Line Sizing – Multiphase Fluids using HYSYS.
Exposure to Aspen HYSYS and Flare System Analyzer simulation software.
Applicants should have some familiarity with database engines as follows:
Maintenance and Engineering Search Engine (MESE)
Engineering Drawing and Document Information (EDDI)
Safe Operating Limit Tables (SOLT)
Applicants must be able to work in a productive manner to deliver the Relief System calculations within the budgeted hours determined for the work.
Applicant should be able to prepare a written describe that documents their work in a clear and concise manner so that the reader can clearly understand the description of background information and comments concerning the relief valve calculations.
Applicants should have a functional understanding of the engineering QA/QC requirements for PSV calculations and be capable and willing to deliver high-quality work on Relief System calculations.
Applicants should be proficient in reading and understanding Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Piping Isometrics drawings as they relate to pressure relief systems.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management and client groups. Mathematical Skills:
Comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra and statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations and proofs and theorems. Ability to apply mathematical operations to work projects. Reasoning Ability:
Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with non-verbal symbols (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in the most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; Outlook e-mail software; and any other discipline-specific design or analysis software, as required. Work Environment:
