Research Associate II, Chemistry','180000006T','!*!Pay Grade: 41The University of Tennessee has immediate openings for a Research Associate II position at the Soft Materials Group. The group includes researchers from the Department of Chemistry and Department of Physics and Astronomy at UT Knoxville and from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The main research topics of the group are dynamics of polymers and nano-composite materials, ionic conductivity in polymer electrolytes and ionic liquids, molecular transport through polymer membranes. Research will center around experimental studies of polymer dynamics, dynamics of ionic liquids and glass transition in general, with a special focus on dynamics of associating polymers. Candidate must have a MS in Physics, Materials Science or a closely related field. Knowledge and expertise in rheology is required, and expertise in at least one of the other techniques – dielectric spectroscopy, light and neutron scattering, is beneficial. The candidate should be able to work independently and participate creatively in refining project directions. Responsibilities include conferring with supervisor in developing plans for research projects within the group and conferring with supervisor to develop research methodology to the overall group research objective. This candidate will analyze and interpret results for publications in peer reviewed journals.
