**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is pleased to announce a tenure-track faculty position in the area of environmental aquatic chemistry.  This position is part of the Water Cluster Initiative that will hire multiple tenure-track faculty members to strengthen interdisciplinary programs in water research, education and outreach.  The successful candidate will be expected to contribute in meaningful ways to interdisciplinary research and educational activities that complement and are synergistic within the Water Cluster. The Water Cluster hires represent a joint initiative between the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS), McMicken College of Arts & Sciences (A&S), and the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP).

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an internationally-recognized externally-funded research program with a research area focused on environmental aquatic chemistry. More specifically, the research should be conducted in one or more of the following areas: (1) environmental trace analysis of organic compounds in water, other types of environmental media, and biological samples using liquid and gas chromatography tandem mass spectrometers (LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS), (2) non-target analysis of aquatic contaminants, (3) development of analytical methods for contaminants of emerging concern, (4) modeling of transformation of organic contaminants in the environment and engineered systems, (5) fate and transport of emerging contaminants, endocrine disruptors, and consumer product chemicals in the aquatic environment, (6) chemical cycling, and (7) bioavailability. Duties will also include to provide excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and education through teaching environmental chemistry courses, and contribute to service and educational scholarly activities performed within academic communities across the university.   

 

Minimum Qualifications:  A Ph.D. degree in environmental chemistry/engineering or a closely related field is required.  

 

Appointment:  The position is anticipated to be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor.  However, exceptional associate and full professor candidates will be considered based upon credentials.  Successful candidate is expected to have a primary appointment in either the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering (CEAS) and/or Chemistry (A&S), and a potential joint appointment in the second department or in others commensurate with the background and expertise of the candidate.
