Assess student outcomes on course and program objectives. Apply innovative teaching and learning pedagogy and stay current in the field of Chemistry. Reports to Associate Vice President for Arts and Sciences Essential Functions and Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to: \u2022 Teaching 15 contact hours per week of lower division courses, including lecture and laboratory. \u2022 Assisting in curriculum development through preparation of new courses and labs and\/or revising current courses and labs. \u2022 Available to teach daytime and evening classes, as needed \u2022 Support continuous quality improvement through participation in Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) \u2022 Serve as a faculty member in participatory college governance. \u2022 Review and submit appropriate course text\/s \u2022 Assessment of course program objectives including student learning outcomes \u2022 Preparing materials for laboratory instruction. \u2022 Determining supply needs for all courses. \u2022 Determining equipment needs and priorities. \u2022 Maintaining laboratory equipment. \u2022 Maintaining safe chemical usage, storage and disposal. \u2022 Selecting appropriate texts or other means of instruction. \u2022 Preparing annual program budgets. \u2022 Serving as a faculty member in participatory college governance. \u2022 Promoting the department and the college within the community. \u2022 Working cooperatively within the department, the division, and throughout the College in striving for educational excellence Qualifications Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution Additional Qualifications \u2022 Master\u2019s Degree in chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering from an accredited graduate school, or Master\u2019s Degree in a related field including 15 graduate semester hours in chemistry and graduate research in chemistry \u2022 Experience teaching lower level chemistry courses. \u2022 Demonstrated commitment to professional development \u2022 Commitment to work with beginning students. \u2022 Commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college.
