**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Process Research Engineer in Resins, Coatings and Adhesives (RCA) located in Midland, MI.

RCA PR & D is part of the Consumer Solutions Business, supporting Dow Performance Silicones. This team is very active, partnering across multiple functions to bring new products to market and developing next-generation process technologies on which to grow the business. The engineer selected for this role will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of technologies - including siloxanes, silicone polyethers, and other organic functionalized silicone polymers. These products go into a wide variety of end applications including skin care, household care, polyurethane foam products, and many more. This person will work with multiple researchers and on more than one project at a time. This role is responsible for (a) fundamental understanding of process kinetics, (b) evaluating critical process parameters through experimental design, (c) demonstrating the solutions in a scale-up environment, and (d) transferring the technology to manufacturing in order to realize the value for the business.

Core Responsibilities:

As a team member of the R & D team, the Process Research Engineer is required to make key decisions in regards to their respective research projects that will have both immediate and long-term impact to the Dow Performance Silicones Copolymers business. Curiosity, critical thinking and collaboration are required to be successful in this role. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Scale up of formulations such as siloxanes, silicone polyethers, amino functional polymers and other new and existing molecules.
- Definition of process routes for best in class emerging technologies from bench-top to full-scale production units.
- Partnering with External Manufacturing specialists and Technology Center engineers to plan and support process demonstration trials and start-ups of new formulations.
- Working with formulation equipment manufacturers to design and install state of the art processing equipment.
- Data analysis, interpretation, report-writing, and delivering presentations with sound and timely recommendations.
- Working safely, in full observance of Company safety and environmental plans and policies, and fostering a strong commitment to safety and overall environmental responsibility.


Required Qualifications:

- A minimum of a Bachelors degree in chemical engineering is required, a Bachelor of Science degree and at least 4 years of relevant industrial experience; OR Master of Science degree Doctoral degree and at least 2 years of relevant industrial experience is preferred.
- Relevant industrial experience is in chemical process scale-up and/ or in Formulation development.
- Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

- Demonstrated project management and project planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability in Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated ability in material property and performance characterization using mechanical, physical, and/or chemical testing/analysis;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments while meeting deadlines and demanding quality execution.
- Ability to successfully partner with team members and stakeholders from multiple backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to deliver presentations that distill complex ideas and proactively communicate results and progress to technical teams, supervision, management, and business leadership.
