We are seeking a talented Scientist to contribute to the discovery and characterization of SOMAmeru00ae reagents (protein affinity reagents comprised of modified ssDNA). This position will work in the lab and oversee activities of other personnel. The Discovery Sciences department is a fast-paced, team-oriented research group focusing on characterization of SOMAmer reagents and in vitro selections. Thorough analysis, documentation, and critical evaluation of results are essential in this position. Level commensurate with experience. Key Job Responsibilities: Direct and perform assays to characterize SOMAmer performance Coordinate cross-functional activities to evaluate specificity Contribute to the ideas and processes throughout the Discovery Sciences team Document results and propose new strategies for project improvements Supervise, coach, and mentor Research Associates to create an environment that builds team engagement and fosters career development and growth opportunities Work with the team to set individual and team goals and monitor progress regularly Skills & Requirements Education Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field: PhD with at least four years of relevant experience, or MS with twelve years relevant experience, or BS with fifteen years of relevant experience Skills and experience Experience with qPCR, SDS-PAGE, protein chemistry, and binding assays required Molecular biology or biochemistry experience with nucleic acid or protein research techniques desired Previous experience managing laboratory personnel highly preferred Strong leadership skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strict deadlines Work Environment : Work involves a typical laboratory environment with personal protective equipment use required and typical office environment.
