Description

Advanced PackagingTechnology (APT) Product and Characterization Development Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on, proactive, self-motivated Product

and Characterization Development Engineer in support of the APT business. This Marlborough, MA based position reports

to Heather Stern, APT Product & Characterization Development Engineering

(DE) Leader. The APT business offers cutting edge materials and formulations to

the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing technology groups in the

world.

The APT product portfolio spans a broad range including metal

plating, photoresists, dielectrics, and silicones. The Product and

Characterization Development Engineer will lead the successful scale-up and

characterization of new APT Products. Time will be split approximately evenly

between product scale-up and characterization but could vary based on project

needs. The Engineer will engage closely with cross-functional teams to drive

technical project delivery.

Responsibilities

Scale-up APT products from R&D to

manufacturing in manner that will ensure reliable long-term manufacturing and

high quality for our customers.

Serve as project leader for new product scale-up

Coordinate new product scale-up work with adjacent functions such as R&D, Applications, Manufacturing, Product Managers, and Quality

Hand-on work in lab to make products on the scale from 100mL – 100L

Work with hazardous chemicals and wear all applicable PPE

Purify raw materials and products – filtration and ion exchange

Raw material and product mixing

Author and contribute to: product batch sheets, New Material Introductions, MOCs, Product Gate Meetings and supporting documentation, FMEAs, Control Plans, and Reactive Chemical Process Hazard Analysis

Train other engineers and operators to manufacture new products

Support products after commercialization including customer issue investigations, shelf life extensions, and manufacturing improvements

Develop and execute analytical and functional

testing on APT raw materials and products in development. Primary focus is on

products.

Functional testing includes laboratory and clean room work

Test method execution, development, validation, documentation, MOC, and training

Mechanical, electrical, chemical, and photolithographic property testing

Analytical testing may include titrations, liquid particle counts, cloud point measurement, electrochemistry, and chromatography

Clean room and related work may include lamination, spin coat, develop, expose, cross-section, and SEM

Laboratory equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

Document work in quality engineering technical reports (technology documents, confidential reports, trade secret documents, patent filings)

Apply knowledge base and use data and statistical tools to solve challenging problems, remove defects, reduce variations, and continuously improve existing processes

Drive projects to a timely and successful completion

Actively engage with project stakeholders

Some projects will include directing the work of peers or junior colleagues

Serve as a role model and safety resource within his/her work group

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

TechnicalBS, MS or PhD degree in chemical or engineering field; minimum 2 years previouschemical process R&D, development engineering, and/or manufacturingexperience. Total post-secondary education time plus experience should be minimum8 years.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to10% of time (when travel is possible)

Strong data analysis skills; experience using JMP orother statistical tools is strongly preferred

Effective verbal and written communication skills inEnglish along with strong attention to detail

Understanding of analytical techniques used tocharacterize small organic molecules, polymers, and inorganic chemicals

Demonstrated ability in project management

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverseteams

Demonstrated ability to work safely with hazardouschemicals

Preferred Qualifications

Track-record of success in scale-up of fine chemicals for commercial success

Demonstrated ability to apply engineering or physical first principles to chemical process development

Demonstrated ability to develop new analytical and/or functional test methods

Experience working with customers or suppliers to resolve challenging technical problems under tight time deadlines

Demonstrated experience using formal problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, Kepner-Tregoe Problem Analysis, Apollo RCI, 5 Whys, FMEA, or others

Experience with materials used in semiconductor fabrication

Kinetic, mixing, distillation, and other chemical and process engineering modeling

Role definition and sizing will accommodate candidates to cover SGL range of 6-8 commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and experience
