Job Role Summary
The successful applicant will provide technical support to pilot plants and operating units to progress R&D activities, scope capital projects and troubleshoot issues in chemicals intermediates technologies including distillation and hydroprocessing. Maintain collaborative and influential relationships with manufacturing sites, suppliers and other groups within ExxonMobil Chemical. The job is initially located at the ExxonMobil Baytown Complex in Baytown, TX for approximately 2 years. Potential travel domestically and internationally in support of key initiatives and manufacturing is required.
Provide guidance to pilot plants for a range of projects in support of capital projects and catalyst qualifications
Scope facilities changes including cost estimates to improve operating units or mitigate reliability issues for capital projects of varying sizes to meet business needs and ensure efficient use of capital
Develop best practices and revise operating windows for operating facilities for global facilities
Develop creative fit for purpose solutions to resolve operational problems
Support unit turnarounds/start-up/shutdown on planned or unplanned basis
Participate or lead in technology, safety and other teams
Work collaboratively with marketing and application development to advance new product creation and needed facilities for production
Proactively share technical and organizational knowledge
BS degree or higher in Chemical Engineering
A minimum of 2 years site experience as a process engineering support engineer a refinery or petrochemical manufacturing site in project development, distillation or hydroprocessing.
Demonstrated commitment to personnel and process safety leadership in all aspects of engineering work
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders
Sound business judgment
Ability to use process simulation packages efficiently
Process and equipment design experience
Understanding catalyst and catalytic process
Willing and able to travel internationally or domestically, as required, in support of ExxonMobil affiliate and licensed units.
Willing and able to relocate to a manufacturing site in the future
