in our Seating Products

business located in Winston-Salem, NC


These positions are part of a dynamic, fast-paced team responsible for flammability certification analysis and testing required to support aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and FAA/EASA Technical Standard Order (TSO) approvals of both main cabin and premium seat products. This role interfaces with aircraft equipment OEMs such as Boeing and Airbus and directly impacts customer product delivery milestones.


Develops supporting FAA and EASA Technical Standard Orders (TSOs) approval documentation including flammability substantiation documents, test plans, and test reports.

Performs analyses of seat product designs to show and find compliance to 14 CFR 25.853(a), (c) and (d).

Interfaces directly with the program management, design, Research and Development, and structural/electrical certification organizations as part of a cross-functional team.

Designs and conforms flammability test equipment and setup and witnesses flammability testing.

Supports flammability testing by designing, procuring, and conformity test articles

Interfaces with flammability testing vendors to conduct flammability testing.

Works closely with senior level design engineers on new designs and/or new applications of existing designs to determine the flammability certification strategy.

Works closely with the program management department to support customer commercial considerations and program/project schedules.

Performs other related duties as required.


Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Sciences, Aerospace Engineering or other, similar technical degree from a four-year college or university and at least one year related experience and/or training.


Prior experience with Unigraphics or other CAD software is preferred.

Working knowledge of the FAA and/or foreign CAA regulatory flammability requirements is a plus.

Demonstrated ability to rapidly adapt to changing priorities and strong ownership/accountability of assigned tasks.

Must be comfortable working to meet firm deadlines with impacts to customer product delivery.

Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, including strong technical writing skills.

Demonstrated ability to think outside the box and solve technical problems.

Must be able to work effectively with global cross-functional (design, certification, operations, manufacturing, etc.) teams including internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite applications and other project and engineering-related software programs.
