About the role: We are seeking a Research Associate for a new product development (NPD) opportunity at Abcam, a leading life science company, in our Cambridge, MA office. This position will work within an exciting multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers to develop new research tools for use by life scientists worldwide. The Research Associate will be responsible for developing multiplex immunoassays utilizing the FirePlex particle technology. The candidate will optimize and validate multiplex immunoassay kits that fit the needs of our customers. Essential Responsibilities: \u2022Develop high-quality multiplex immunoassay kits with associated documentation \u2022Set up experiments in accordance with standard operating procedures \u2022Analyze and critically evaluate experimental results with an attention to detail \u2022Maintain good laboratory records and presentation of regular internal NPD reports \u2022Communicate experimental results effectively to the team \u2022Complete project tasks in a timely and efficient manner \u2022Manage and order NPD consumable stocks \u2022May be required to perform other duties as required Minimum Qualifications: \u2022B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline \u20222 years of relevant laboratory experience Desired Qualifications: \u2022M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline \u2022Hands on experience with development and optimization of antibodies in single\/multiplex immunoassays \u20221 year of experience in an industry setting \u2022Process driven and a keen eye for continuous improvement \u2022Hands- on experience with biochemistry and molecular biology techniques, such as ELISA, flow cytometry, protein conjugations, and PCR are strongly desired \u2022Experience with automation platforms \u2022Demonstrated experience with quantitative data analysis \u2022Familiarity with protein and nucleic acid detection methods and principles \u2022Familiarity with LIMS systems \u2022Must demonstrate strong communication and critical thinking skills \u2022Ability to work independently as well as part of a team \u2022Ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-orientated, and able to multi-task \u2022Must have excellent computer skills including instrumentation specific software, and proficiency in Microsoft office. About you You will be an experienced research scientist that performs well-designed experiments and has a passion for developing technologies to enhance life science research. You will have a Bachelor\u2019 s or Master\u2019s in chemistry or biochem and a solid background with a variety of lab techniques and processes. You will have direct experience in developing and optimizing antibodies, particularly multiplex immunoassays. You will thrive in a varied and fast-paced work environment and you possess outstanding communication and organizational skills.
