Summary The person selected for this position will work on project teams assisting clients with air-quality permitting, environmental regulatory compliance, and related technical assignments. Work may include participating in preparing emission inventories, chemical mass balances, monitoring plans, permit applications, and technical and economic feasibility studies for pollution-control equipment and processes; and developing written reports. Responsibilities may also involve waste management; spill prevention, control, and countermeasures plans; risk management plans; and site evaluations and investigations. In addition, the job may require working with permitting agencies and on site at client facilities. NOTE: Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites and to enter and work within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions common in industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required; safety training will be provided. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering or related scientific degree and three years of professional experience with state and federal air permits such as PSD\/NSR, Title V, MACT, NSPS and state air construction permits Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients Demonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and to do what it takes to meet clients' service expectations and requirements Strong technical and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness, as well as a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables Effectiveness in building working relationships and working on multidiscipline project teams A flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules as required to meet project deadlines and\/or client needs Self-initiative and motivation, with an emphasis on client service and cultivating a career in environmental consulting Acceptable driving record Ability to travel to client locations and other Barr offices Preferred Qualifications At least five years of experience working with federal air regulations such as PSD\/NSR and CAA Title V, as well as state air construction permits Engineering or scientific knowledge and experience in the power, refining, pipeline, ethanol, and\/or mining industries Demonstrated organization and management skills Aptitude for developing client relationships and business Barr Engineering Co. reserves the right to consider other legitimate, non-discriminatory factors that are not specifically listed.
