R&D Laboratory Technologist (Experienced)

There is an opening for a laboratory technologist to support experimental activities in our micro-rheology and complex fluids laboratories. You will work with technical staff to design and run experiments involving a variety of technologies and then perform basic data analysis.
On any given day, you may be called upon to;
Support many experiments including; rheological characterization of complex materials, x-ray computed tomography of internal structure of complex materials and measurement of wetting properties in support of Sandiaâ€™s mission.
Basic knowledge of chemical handling and the ability to work in a safe manner with respect for safety procedures.
You will need to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research and development laboratory environment.
A bachelorâ€™s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience in a research laboratory
Experience handling chemicals according to defined safety procedures
Must have a DOE L Clearance to start
Experience working with optical microscopy or image analysis devices.
Strong communication and organizational skills
Experience with design of flow or pressure systems
Experience with LabVIEW
Experience working with electronics, wiring and a general knowledge of electrical safety and work practices
